REGURGITATOR together as SUPERHAPPYFUNTIMESFRIENDS

REGURGITATOR

New album SUPERHAPPYFUNTIMESFRIENDS out AUG 5
Featuring latest fast times single ONE DAY.

As ONE DAY surfs up the radio and net waves further new tracks have surfaced with the rising tide of new album SUPERHAPPYFUNTIMESFRIENDS - the latest being ALL FAKE EVERYTHING which has provoked some great feedback.

Out of the great wide blue the guys have dropped an album's worth of dynamic new material all forthcoming on digital, vinyl, cassette, CD and even Playbutton (see below for further info and image). Shacked up in their Melbourne dwellings and put together in the midst of a enforced creative blizzard... it seems the concept of the album was not without value as it afforded the more focused structure and disciplined approach they seem to require. Ahhh... the frenzy of an an artistic tempest whipped up by the wild seas of a deadline - all comes now pieced together under the title SUPERHAPPYFUNTIMEFRIENDS.

QUAN REFLECTING ON THE DIFFERENCE IN RECORDING THIS ALBUM TO PAST EFFORTS...

1. All the sounds on the record were created using only mouth harps captured via a complex system of silk filaments connected to my bottom.
2. My left arm was broken for the entire process.
3. We never looked each other directly in the eye the whole time in the studio.
4. Whilst producing the record we disallowed the use of any technical words commonly associated with music like 'bass, top end, warmth, loud, nice compression, boom, sweet gate, sexy, magnificent...' etc So for example if Ben felt the need to request a change to where the Bass guitar track might be sitting in the mix, he was forced to say something like "Could we perhaps massage the crotch of the ditch a little?"

Everything else was pretty much the same.

WHY SUPERHAPPYFUNTIMESFRIENDS?

It seems upbeat and naive, with a lining of playful sarcasm which we thought might neatly represent the overall zeitgeist of the band's career.

Or maybe it's because if you rearrange the letters you get... 'Stuffed nappy usher penis rim' ...no, I really have no idea.

The extra 's' in Funtimes is rumoured to be a typo made during the making of the artwork.

Also of note...

Regurgitator's "UNIT" was not only recently voted #13 on the industry voted Triple J TOP 100 Australian albums... but also came in at #10 on the public voted campaign along with Tu Plang at #44.

Regurgitator's live soundtrack performance of the Japanese anime film Akira at the Sydney Opera House Graphic event last year has been nominated for two Helpmann awards - Best Australian Contemporary Concert and Best Original Score.

DISASTERADIO album - CHARISMA

DISASTERADIO album - CHARISMA

featuring single track GRAVY RAINBOW.

DISASTERADIO is touring Australia with Regurgitator in AUG 2011.

Currently on a huge world tour covering numerous festivals and headline dates in Europe and USA... Luke Rowell from Lower Hutt, New Zealand began making music as DISASTERADIO in 2001 with a self-titled CDR on punk zine distribution label Red Letter Distro and performances at Wellington punk shows. Ten years on, hundreds of shows later the most anticipated album of his career has been released – Charisma, his first to be released internationally.

An underground legend, DISASTERADIO has made a huge impact both at home and overseas. DISASTEADIO is touring Europe for the fourth time this summer playing a combination of headline shows, festivals and a short support tour with Trans Am. Since 2007 he has played some of the best European alternative and electronica festivals, including: Synch Festival in Greece (Squarepusher, Tortoise, Junior Boys), Off Festival in Poland (Spirtualized, HEALTH, The National), La Terra Trema in France (Deerhoof, Dan Deacon), Wilsonic Festival in Slovakia, Bergenfest in Norway (Sufjan Stevens, Mount Kimbie), Worldtronics in Germany, Creepee Teepee in The Czech Republic and headlined Weirdofest 2009 in Belgium. He is also set to tour the USA for the second timein 2011 - highlights include bookings at highly respected venues Death by Audio (Brooklyn, NYC) and The Smell (Los Angeles).

DISASTERADIO’s last album 'Visions' was named the best local album of 2007 by Real Groove Magazine (the only NZ music magazine worth mentioning) and Vice Magazine called it "The only good music to come out of Wellington, ever!". Since the release of 'Visions', DISASTERADIO has been touring non-stop, performing in 30 countries. He was personally asked by Supergroove, the best-selling New Zealand act of the 90s, to support at all shows on their 12-date reunion tour in 2007. He was also asked to support NZ’s most popular alternative punk band The Mint Chicks on their final ever tour in 2008. After taking 2010 off to focus on producing an incredible record, DISASTERADIO has hit the ground running in 2011.

Charisma proudly wears influences ranging from Devo to The Ramones, Kraftwerk to Hϋsker Du and is to be co-released in Australia by Valve Records and A Low Hum (digital, CD and vinyl). To launch Charisma in Australia DISASTERADIO is coming for his first full-length Australian tour in August 2011, supporting the legendary Regurgitator on an 18-date tour.

The first single 'Gravy Rainbow' is going nuts on Youtube, scoring 300,000+ views in under a month and was profiled on US cable TV show Attack of the Show and Australia’s Fuel TV (April, 2011). TRANS AM release THING

Most bands are too afraid to step up to the bat. They are scared that life is going to

throw them different kinds of curve balls. But for more than fifteen years, Trans Am

has fearlessly stepped up, taken their swings and thrown a few curve balls of their own.

Few bands can say they’ve toured the Canadian mountains with TOOL, and fewer still

can they played their first tour opening for Tortoise. Trans Am a-la 2010 is a band of

veterans unafraid to contradict themselves, confident in their identity even as

confounding as that identity has been for their fans over the years.

Thing is a wreckage of sorts.

The project was originally commissioned as a sci-fi, horror adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. When funding for that project fell apart, Trans Am forged on with their own album. To capture the feeling of exhaustion and paranoia demanded by Thing, Trans Am remained at their recording studio until the early morning, occasionally exiting to run up and down the hills of San Francisco. All vocals were recorded during recovery from these sessions. Thing features songs written entirely by the individual band members, as well as more collaborative efforts. Tracks were composed and/or recorded in Pescara, Italy; Portland, Oregon; Leon, France; San Francisco, California; Somewhere over the Pacific Ocean; London, England; Death Valley, California. The three members of the band currently reside in Portland, San Francisco and Washington, DC. For half of the tracks on Thing, Trans Am utilized a recording/composition strategy known as “Zombification.” Once a song was recorded, each of the band members (as well as anybody else in the studio at the time) would record multiple additional tracks without any reference to the previous ones. The song then forgot itself - and was almost unlistenable. After cellaring the un-dead music for up to a year, Trans Am would begin to peel back the layers of the song, usually arriving at something completely different.Thing was recorded between May 2008 and November of 2009, but the ongoing economic crisis did not affect the album’s lavish production budget.

Thing represents a further attempt by the band to further remove themselves not just from various indie-rock labels, but music itself. One of Thing’s requirements was that each track contain a completely non-musical element, preferably something with a sonic signature that was not even necessarily a sound.

With such history behind them, eight albums and last year’s live double LP and DVD What

Day is it Tonight?, Trans Am’s record speaks for itself. This new album does not

attempt to redefine the band’s image or return to any previous form, but

simply to speak for itself, a single palpable, particular... Thing...

TRANS AM’s THING out on VALVE/MGM – MAY 7
